Kai Fun: Artisans Angkor

Located within the redeveloped Artisans Angkor precinct in Siem Reap, this Kai Fun café represents the latest evolution of the brand’s presence in Cambodia. While maintaining the familiar identity and atmosphere established across previous locations, the project was carefully adapted to respond to its new cultural and architectural setting.

Set within a compact footprint, the café maximises every square metre through an efficient layout that extends naturally into the surrounding courtyard spaces. The integration between interior and exterior seating allows the café to feel larger than its physical dimensions, encouraging visitors to engage with the wider precinct and its landscaped public areas.

The design balances consistency with sensitivity. Existing elements of the Kai Fun brand were refined to align with the renewed character of the Artisans Angkor site, where craftsmanship, materiality, and a slower pace of experience define the environment. Natural textures, artisanal finishes, and warm tones help the café blend into its surroundings while maintaining a contemporary identity.

As part of UCB’s broader involvement across the precinct, the project required careful coordination with adjacent works and ongoing site activity. The result is a café that feels integrated rather than inserted, contributing to the precinct as both a hospitality venue and a social space within one of Siem Reap’s most culturally significant destinations.
