Artisans Angkor

Artisans Angkor is a well-established custodian of traditional Khmer craft, combining cultural continuity with skilled employment for hundreds of artisans. In 2022, UCB was engaged to help reimagine the organisation’s flagship site in Siem Reap—adapting existing structures and public areas to better reflect its mission and enhance the visitor experience.

The renovation centred on relocating the retail shop to the ground floor of an existing three-storey building. UCB managed the structural updates, full interior fit-out, and integration of display, lighting, and circulation systems suitable for a high-quality retail environment rooted in handmade craft.

To unify the precinct, UCB also led the redesign of the main arrival sequence. This included reorienting the site entrance, establishing a boardwalk around a central water feature, and coordinating hardscape and softscape elements throughout. The site now accommodates a Kai Fun café and offers shaded public zones that support both commercial activity and cultural reflection.

The project reflects UCB’s sensitivity to working within culturally significant contexts, delivering quality construction that supports heritage alongside tourism.
