Meet our People: Kunthearak YOEUN

What is your full name?

Kunthearak YOEUN

What is your role at UCB?

Head of HSEQ

How long have you been with the company?

1 year and 9months.

What do you enjoy most about working at UCB?

At UCB, leading the HSEQ department is deeply rewarding because it builds a proactive culture of care that directly connects rigorous field safety with structural excellence. This approach empowers tradespeople, engineers, and subcontractors to openly voice safety concerns, turning risk management into a shared responsibility from groundbreaking to handover. Ultimately, enforcing advanced construction quality management systems guarantees that all work meets strict regulatory compliance, transforming standard code requirements into a meaningful mission to deliver safe, enduring spaces.

Achieving this relies entirely on trust, which is why my working relationship with the various project teams and regional sites is built on a foundation of open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. As Head of HSEQ based at HQ, my goal has always been to act as a supportive, strategic partner to our field operations rather than a rigid corporate enforcer, seamlessly bridging the gap between executive leadership, project management, and on-site crews.

Can you share a proud moment or achievement from your time at UCB?

One of my proudest milestones at UCB was spearheading the HSEQ strategy for the Odom Project during the high-risk, semi-top-down construction of its 5-floor basement structure. By embedding a proactive safety culture across all engineering teams and subcontractors, we completed this deep excavation phase with zero Lost Time Injuries. Simultaneously, we meticulously managed environmental compliance and green building standards from the ground up, ultimately securing the project's prestigious LEED Gold certification and proving that massive general construction can be both flawlessly safe and highly sustainable. This outstanding achievement was only made possible through the seamless collaboration, dedication, and shared accountability of every single team and subcontractor involved in the project.
